To build epistemic cognition in practice in the classroom, through understanding teacher practices – particularly in technology enhanced learning – that foster student epistemic development, and the co-design and evaluation of an epistemic cognition design toolkit. The project seeks to understand how learners develop sophisticated epistemic cognition through the ways educators can, and do, design tasks to support that aim. Given that teaching quality is the most significant in-school factor for advancing student outcomes (OECD 2005), understanding and supporting teacher practice holds great potential to support this learning.
